Our project
In Chile, new “flexible working arrangements” (FWAs) are currently in place:
- Trabajamos a distancia.
- El teletrabajo nos permite cuidar de personas dependientes, fuera del ámbito laboral.
- Avanzamos gradualmente a una jornada de 40 horas semanales.
These FWAs generate interest, but they also raise doubts:
- Will they have the positive impact we expect?
- What are its negative consequences?
At Labofam, we search for answers to these questions. We strive to use those insights to improve the laws that regulate the way we work and to help workers better balance their work, social, and family lives.
Research
We conduct interdisciplinary research to study the impact of FWA in three areas:
- 01
Labor policy and labor relations
- 02
Work, gender and family life
- 03
Work, political participation and collective life
What methods do we use?
We combine quantitative and qualitative methodologies to carry out longitudinal research. FWA adoption is a complex and evolving process, and this approach allows us to observe it properly.
-
Panel survey
-
Longitudinal interviews
-
Network analysis
-
Time-use diaries
